Today is probably our last day at the Orlando Thousand Trails for this winter. We leave here tomorrow to go back to Three Flags in Wildwood for two weeks. I say “probably for this winter” because we actually have another two weeks reserved here at Orlando after our Wildwood stay, but if all of Terry’s dental work is finished by then we’ll cancel that reservation and start heading west. Since we don’t have any commitments at this point, our time and our schedule are our own.
This winter has gone by much too fast and we didn’t get most of the things we wanted done, including getting our Sea Eagle kayaks wet, rearranging our basement storage bays, and a bunch of other stuff. I have absolutely no idea where the time went.
Terry spent most of yesterday afternoon at the dentist, and we’re headed back again today. My Kindle sure is getting a workout while I’ve been out in the waiting room! While she was in the chair yesterday I ran over to the mail service to pick up the envelopes for the new issue. Today I’ll go to the FedEx freight terminal to pick up the papers, since the jerks who work there were too lazy to do their job and unload it from the truck yesterday.
I heard from a couple of vendors who just worked the Brooksville FMCA rally and they said the number of RVs were down about 1/3 from last year, and the vendor count was also way down. Could that be because of the way they treat people (customers)? I was reminded of a blog post I read a couple of years ago by an RVing couple who were treated like crap at Brooksville and my own blog post titled Why We Are Leaving The FMCA. Obviously nothing has changed and it doesn’t look like they will ever learn. No wonder their numbers shrink every year.
It’s all about customer service. I don’t care if you are a shipping company, a big box store, a mom and pop campground, or an RV club, you have to make the people who walk in the door or drive through the gate feel welcome.
