Whether you are spending today at home with family or in an RV park somewhere sharing a community meal, Terry and I want to wish everybody a happy Thanksgiving. Life has its ups and downs for all of us, but over all we have been very blessed, and we are thankful for that.
When we were fulltime RVers we sometimes shared a meal with our neighbors at the campground activity center, sometimes we would just have a quiet meal at home for the two of us, and other times we would go out to dinner. That way Terry didn’t have to cook all day long, even though she loves cooking.
She bought a turkey breast for today’s dinner and is making lots of goodies to go with it. Our friend Jim Lewis is joining us and we look forward to a quiet, laid-back day. How about you? What are you doing for Thanksgiving?
And after you finish all that eating, I know a good way to relax. How about curling up with a good book? Especially a good free book? My friend Cleve Sylcox just listed the e-book of his Fly Paper Soup, the first book in his David Winter mystery series, for free on Amazon for a limited time. Grab it while you can!
We spent part of yesterday running around getting some errands out of the way, and then back at home I finished setting up my new Dell laptop computer, getting the new Dragon NaturallySpeaking software installed and setting it up so it would recognize my voice and speech patterns. That took a bit of difficulty and a couple of calls to Greg White, but between the two of us we got it working.
I mentioned in yesterday’s blog that the Voice Recognition USB headset I ordered took 10 days to get here, even though out by Next Day Air. I have only used the new headset in setting up the software and the new computer, but so far I’m very much impressed with it. It seems to pick up my voice better than the Logitech headset I have been using, and in the little bit of time I practiced with it, I saw very few errors.
Apparently I offended somebody yesterday without meaning to. They wrote asking my opinion of Newmar motorhomes and their email came while we were at the bank. When we were done there we ran a couple of errands, and I apparently did not reply fast enough. The person emailed back an hour or so later telling me in no uncertain terms that they really didn’t appreciate being ignored when they were at an RV dealer trying to decide on what rig to purchase. I’m sorry if you felt ignored, and while I can give you instant coffee or instant oatmeal if you need it, sometimes I’m just not able to give you an instant answer.
But really, you’re at a dealership trying to decide on a motorhome to buy and that’s when you decide to reach out and ask for advice? I kind of feel like that’s the kind of person who, when they were in school, did last night’s homework a minute before the bell rang to start class. I’ll try to schedule my life in a way that will be more accommodating to you in the future.
It’s Thursday, so it’s time for a new Free Drawing. This week’s prize is an audio book of undone, the first book in my buddy Jason Deas’ new Burt Bigsley mystery series.
